ZAMBIA AIRPORTS CORPORATION AND ZTE ZAMBIA SERVICES DONATE TOWARDS COVID-19 FIGHT
The Ministry of Finance has today received substantial donations of surgical-quality facial masks from the Zambia Airports Corporation, and ZTE Zambia Services. The masks are for use by staff under the Ministry.
The donation from Zambia Airports Corporation consists nineteen-thousand-nine-hundred-and-fifty (19, 950) surgical-quality facial masks worth K150, 000, approximately, while ZTE Zambia Services has also donated surgical-quality facial masks whose value is estimated at K75, 000. Zambia Airports Corporation sent the donation via courier.
Meanwhile, receiving four (4) carton boxes containing a total of ten-thousand (10, 000) masks from ZTE Zambia Services on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Affairs Permanent Secretary Dr MULENGA PAMU thanked the donors for their gesture of good corporate social responsibility.
Dr PAMU added that officials in the Ministry, like all other citizens, still need to observe the guidelines stipulated by health authorities so that the fight against Covid-19 is won, “not in the long-run, but as soon as possible,” because of its debilitating impact on the economy.
Zambia currently has 254 active cases, 1, 348 registered recoveries, and 30 deaths from the 1, 632 cases that have so far been recorded in the country.
The Ministry of Finance has begun the process of preparing the 2021 National Budget. Therefore, the protection of staff against Covid-19 is of utmost importance in ensuring there is no disruption in the budget preparation process, Dr PAMU has said.
