nominations
as Nawakwi responds to a police call out
By Derrick Sinjela and Pamela Mulenga
FORUM for Democracy and Development (FDD) leader Edith Nawakwi has responded to a call out by the Zambia Police Service on allegations that the Hatembo’s family is running away from her for fear of being killed.
After three hours of interrogation in Room 120 on the First Floor at Police Force Headquarters in Lusaka, Ms. Nawakwi spoke to journalists confessing that she had given her side of the story as to a growing relationship with The Hatembo’s.
As soon as she had concluded being interrogated, Ms. Nawakwi said the police were eager to listen to her response to social – media allegations that the supposedly ‘captured’ Hatembo couple are under the custody of the former Finance Minister.
Nawakwi said it is not true that Milton and Pheluna are running away from her as she has had cordial relationship with them.
On Saturday, Pheluna and Milton were captured in a video which went viral alledging that they are in hiding running away from Ms Nawakwi, who threatened to kill them over the Kalomo farm, which they have refused to appeal against the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema, following a Court ruling.
“Pheluna and l are in a good relationship. She is my sister and we could call each other and l would find out about how she was doing with her family as well as farming issues,” the former narrated Labour and Security Services Minister, reiterating her earlier submission that it is actually Hakainde Hichilema, who is keeping the couple.
Meanwhile, the FDD leader said she is aware that UPND has heightened accusations and pressure against her of being behind the death threats of the Hatembo’s family.
“UPND has created WhatsApp groups to talk against me on these issues. But God is with us because some unhappy people in these groups come to inform us,” bragged Nawakwi on being way ahead of the UPND.
The FDD leader has since advised Mr. Hichilema to be brave enough to address the matter in a more civil manner.
Earlier, during the Press Conference held at Chrismar Hotel, Nawakwi said it should be a concern that the UPND leader President Hakainde Hichilema may be arrested during Presidential filling processes, thus an imperative need to clear any perceived link to criminal cases.
And Ms. Nawakwi said it could be an alert that Hichilema can be arrested as he files in his nomination papers.
And Ms Nawakwi justified her cordial relationship with Pheluna to an extent of providing essential needs to the children of Pheluna.
Three months ago, the Courts of Law declared President Hakainde Hichilema as a rightful owner of the controversy number 1924 Kalomo farm in the Southern Province.
