Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) Board Chairperson Engineer Webster Nonde says the greatest challenge Zambia is facing is the negative attitude among motorists, reports Ashton Kelly Bunda.
Engineer Nonde impressed it on the Zambian motorists that every driver should take it upon themselves to make a commitment to improve their driving behavior and attitude and country will be on right path to improving the road safety profile.
Engineer Nonde emphasized that all those who have the privilege to drive should commit play a responsible role and appealed to the vehicle drivers is to m
ake a pledge for road safety and make a conscience decision of “no drink-driving, 100 percent seat belt use and no over speeding, “Nonde observed during the launch of the Road Safety Week themed: “Pledge Road Safety No Driving-100 percent Seat Belt Use and No Over Speeding.”
Engineer Nonde said that it is well fact when a person drinks their body is not at its best as far as making important decisions and that their judgment of making decisions to the ever changing conditions on the road gets impaired since someone under the influence of alcohol has a lower responsible rate to emergencies such as a sudden appearance of a child on the road.
