My wife, Chisanga Kapumpa, and I were invited by Chengelo School
, and I were invited by Chengelo School, to the school’s Annual Prizegiving Ceremony for me to be the Guest Speaker and Mrs. Kapumpa to be Awarding Prizes to the students.
We left Lusaka for Mkushi where Chengelo is, around 04:30 and arrived at the school at 09:00. We were of course conscious of the 80 km/h restrictions RATSA has imposed on the Lusaka-Mkushi road, although it is a highway !!
. Mwila our fourth child did her Forms I to V at Chengelo and after completion went to Halifax, Canada where she is graduating in January 2019.
In December 2016 I spoke to the School Secondary Headmaster, Mr. Chriss Banda, and arranged my wife to bring Mwamba to Chengelo for tests leading to his enrollment in January 2017 in Form III !
John Melezyo Simutenda Mkushi farming block is always a spectacular place to be. I interacted regularly with the community comprising the Moffats, Siddles, Wyatts, the Youngs etc during the mid 2000s conducting agricultural surveys. It gave me a lot of pleasure and a sense of connectivity to the distant past to further realize that Dr. David Livingston’s relatives; the Moffats are actually still within our midst with over a 200 year presence in Zambia. One just hopes those guys are still alive and well. Nice event obviously out there.
