John Kafwanka is Anglican Diocese of Northern Zambia (DNZ) Bishop

The Reverend Prebendary (Canon) John Kafwanka, currently Vicar of St Augustine of Canterbury, Whitton, in the United Kingdom has been appointed as the next Bishop of the Diocese of Northern Zambia (DNZ).
The Bishop of London Dame Sarah Elisabeth Mullally writes:
“I am delighted for Revd John to take up this new challenge in his home country, though the gap which he leaves in the Diocese of London will be difficult to replace. He has been a wise and spiritual man throughout his 18 years in London, and I pray for him and the congregation of Northern Zambia as he embarks on this new calling”.
ADNZ Bishop elect Revd Preb John Kafwanka was overwhelmed after the development was confirmed by bishops meeting at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross (ACHC).
“I am overwhelmed and humbled by this call to serve in this role. Prayers are (will be) greatly valued for my family and I, the parish of St Augustine of Canterbury Whitton, and the Diocese of Northern Zambia,” Bishop elect Kafwanka wrote on his Facebookpage.
The Episcopal Synod of the Church of the Province of Central Africa (CPCA) comprising the Anglican dioceses in Botswana, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe) met and appointed the Revd Preb John Kafwanka, currently Vicar of St Augustine of Canterbury, Whitton, in the Diocese of London, as the next Bishop of the Diocese of Northern Zambia (DNZ).
This follows the translation of the former bishop, Archbishop Albert Chama, to the Anglican Diocese of Lusaka.
Revd Kafwanka will be the fourth bishop of DNZ since its creation in 1971 after his predecessor Bishop Chama and first bishop being Joseph Mabula.
Diocesan Training Chaplain in the Anglican Diocese of Luapula (ADL) James Frank Phiri said: “Canon John Kafwanka, I have no doubt in mind that at this point, you are the best that has happened to Anglican Diocese of Northern Zambia.
Congratulations to you and Amai Bishop”.
Ian Swann said: “Congratulations F. John”.
Paulos Chifunda Phiri said: “Congratulations and wishing you well and God’s guidance as you are taking this challenge”.
