The Presiding Bishop Dr Joshua HK Banda has launched the theme for the year 2024. The crossover overnight took place at New Life Cathedral PAOGZ, Mfuwe in Eastern Province.
There has been the progression of the vision, COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION since Bishop Joshua HK Banda came into the office. ln 2021 the focus was, “COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION REVISITING THE MISSION OF CHRIST”. In 2022 the focus was, “COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION, A CALL TO HARVEST”. In 2023, the focus was COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION, REVISITING DISCIPLESHIP FOUNDATIONS, NOW AND THE NEXT GENERATION”.
The Presiding Bishop commended all the Pastors in the fellowship, for the faithful work they are doing in feeding the flock.
The Presiding Bishop emphasized the need to reach out to the younger generation because the reality is that, those above 65 years and above are becoming fewer and fewer. In Zambia, those above 65 years now represent roughly,2.5%. He said that, while we minister to our seniors, we must turn our attention very urgently, purposefully towards the younger generation. In this progression, we need to note that the focus on the community is to identify as early as possible each of these demographic groupings with the view to meeting their needs, as a way to build the nation.
According to the document released by Dr. Louis Bush, the survey has now given proof that, of the many billions of people who are responding to the gospel of Christ, the majority of them are young between 4 years and 14 years old.
The Bishop said that the younger we reach our population the more assured we are to communicate values that are more likely to last a lifetime.
If we miss this window, we may wake up and find that we have a generation we can’t control.
Therefore, through our key sectors like Education, social and religion, we must utilize the window while our children are young, to infuse those values that build a foundation for the future; then we can be sure that posterity is on our side to commend us and not judge us harshly.
“Keeping these in mind, we have sensed that our outreach to the community has to continue. We are pleased to announce that, in 2024, we are still focusing on COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION, with a focus on UNITED IN GROWTH, FLOURISHING TOGETHER, NOW AND THE NEXT GENERATION”. said the Bishop.
He read the scripture from Psalm 92:12-15 and declared that 2024 is a time to, FLOURISH, THRIVING, BLOOMING, SPREADING, PROSPERING AND SHOOTING UPWARDS LIKE A PALM TREE.
