Magistrate Pamela Chituwo jails ZAFFICO EMPLOYEE

KALULUSHI Magistrate Court Pamela Chituwo has convicted a Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation (ZAFFICO) PLC Pole Treatment Plant contract Logger Operator David Chinyama for theft and sentenced him to three (03) months imprisonment with hard labour.
According to a Press Statement circulated by ZAFFICO Public Relations Manager Irene Lungu Chipili, during Tuesday, 15th February, 2022 proceedings, Magistrate Chituwo heard how the accused stole 57 five meter poles of various diameters valued at K4,738 on while on Sunday, 18th April, 2021.
“After being apprehended, Kalulushi Police Station opened a docket of theft and subsequently, forwarded the case to the Court. All the 57 poles were recovered and handed back to the Corporation through a Court disposal process,” recollected Ms. Lungu-Chipili.
Said Ms. Lungu-Chipili: “ZAFFICO warns members of the public to desist from illegal cutting of trees or any theft from its properties. We have intensified security measures and anyone found felling without authorisation will be dealt with in accordance with the law”.
