CATHOLIC BISHOPS COMMITTED TO CHILD SAFETY

Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) Secretary General (SG) Father Francis Mukosa restates supporting the rights and safety of children beyond the ecumenical body.
Making reference to the ZCCB Child Protection initiative, Father Mukosa reiterated that the Catholic Bishops in Zambia commit to protecting children and vulnerable persons through their Child Protection Policy (CPP) launched in 2017.
The Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) Child Protection agrees and encourages effective state legal machinery in addressing human rights.
Closing a 4-day Safeguarding workshop for Diocesan Children Protection officers on Friday, 4th March, 2022 in Lusaka, Fr. Mukosa told 12 participants from all the Catholic Dioceses in Zambia said that the Catholic Bishops are committed to the safety of all children.
“The importance of collective commitment in establishing efficient Child Protection structures in the Catholic dioceses is priority and I urge you to work together with the state as duty bearers to make Zambia a better and safer place for children and vulnerable persons,” prayed Fr. Mukosa.
Participants were drawn from the 11 Catholic Dioceses in Zambia namely Ecclesiastical Province of Kasama; Archdiocese of Kasama, Diocese of Mansa and Diocese of Mpika; Ecclesiastical Province of Lusaka, Archdiocese of Lusaka, Diocese of Chipata, Diocese of Kabwe, Diocese of Livingstone, Diocese of Mongu, Diocese of Monze, Diocese of Ndola and Diocese of Solwezi.
