We will not distribute branded masks, insists UPND Secretary General Stephen Katuka

OPPOSITION United Party for National Development says the party has resolved not to make UPND branded masks, to be distributed countrywide in compliance with President Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s directive that wearing a mask is now mandatory.
Party Secretary General Stephen Katuka says the party is aware of the ruling Patriotic Front’s branded masks, but UPND will not make any branded masks on account of the seriousness it attaches in fight against the dreaded covid 19 pandemic.
Formerly, UPND Mwinilunga Member of Parliament in the North-Western Province, Mr. Katuka painted the COVID 19 as a serious matter requiring a bi-partisan approach and interventions, which need not be politicized.

In an apparent reference to a presidential social gathering regulation, Mr. Katuka implored civil society, political and religious to resist temptation to heighten campaigning, stressing that there is no sense in using the branded masks to win political millage.
The UPND Secretary General has since cautioned party members not to wear branding masks as the Hakainde Hichilema leadership will not condone anyone found wanting.
Katuka says the party is serious and will not politicize the covid 19 fight evident in the UPND resisting a temptation to brand donations.
