Guess Nyirenda in Zambia

While the President of the Republic of Zambia has powers and prerogative to nominate a person of choice, the nomination to Parliament of Mr. Raphael Nakachinda (Secretary General of the Felix Mutati’s Movement for Multiparty Democracy – MMD faction) by President Edgar Lungu to replace Mr. Felix Mutati is not only an interesting episode but raises a number of questions that beg honest answers. Among the pertinent questions are the following:

1. Is the move by President Lungu an indictment on the ruling Patriotic Front’s (PF’s) lack of members with caliber to be nominated as MPs (MP Material);
2. Could the President’s action not be equated to betrayal on thousands of hardworking Patriotic Front Members to be nominated to serve as MPs;
3. Was the action, in any way meant to weaken and frustrate Mr. Felix Mutati further or completely wipe out from the political landscape his MMD faction;
4. What wrong did Mr. Felix Mutati commit to warrant him such a dismissal and replacement by his subordinate – Is there anything we cannot see which we dearly need to as Zambians

5. Has Mr. Nakachida somehow betrayed is boss – Mr. Felix Mutati;
These and many more questions coupled with their honest and correct answers are inevitable if we are to me the standards of Christianity such as treating others as one would like to be treated, being each others’ brothers/sisters keepers among many.
OYV’s advise to the Mutati MMD Faction and its leadership is that they should not be excited with the kinds of appointments that can be revoked anytime and without advancing reasons (which appointments/nominations are dividing them further by mistrust that they breed). OYV would further like to advise the Mutati MMD Faction to find a way of dialoguing and reconciling with the Nevers Mumba MMD Faction as the two together are a formidable force whose gains far outreach the cheap and cosmetic nominations exciting them at individual level. What the Mutati Faction should be alive to is that its members can and will be used and abused at will as long as they remain in a begging and vulnerable position – which position is perfect anchorage for the PF’s continued stay in power.

OYV is of the considered view and conviction that the sooner the Mutati MMD Faction avows itself and reconciles with the Nevers Mumba MMD Faction the better for them, the entire MMD Family and Democracy and Multipartism. Otherwise wise the route they have allowed of one member being nominated and appeased after the other is the High Way to Oblivion or Hell.
