ZAMBIA Army (ZA) sponsored side Green Buffaloes Football Club (GBFC) scooped the 2015 Barclays Cup convincingly beating High Flying Nkwazi Football Club 2-0 (NFC) with both goals arriving in the first half of an exciting final registering their name as a top notch outfit .
President Edgar Chagwa Lungu, Youth , Sports and Child Development Minister Vincent Mwale and Football Association Zambia President Kalusha Bwalya graced the memorable Barclays Cup final at Lusaka’s Nkoloma stadium
It was the ‘Soldiers’ team led by coach Bilton Musonda that employed war zone attitude using their ammunitions with skill when the Jackson Chirwa marshaled midfield alongside Buchizya Mfune and Adrian Chama, launched suicide commando’s attack on the stubborn defence system of the Zambia Police team led by hard tackling Rodrick Zimba , Noah Tembo and veteran player Michael Bwalya.
This attack paid off when Buffaloes in-form winger Sabastian Mwansa delivered and over lapping left back Stephen Kabamba tapped after a goal mouth scramble to make 1-0 in the 20th minute.
The police outfit team put behind the led and kept pressing in the first half with defender Andrew Tembo and captain Chipungu Musukwa making runs to Buffaloes goal area to campaign for an equalizing goal.
In the 35th minute Green Buffaloes doubled the lead after captain Christopher Katongo 2012 British Broadcasting (BBC) player of the year managed to converted a penalty following a foul play by Determined Nkwazi Goal keeper Makasa Kalaba who tripped Bufaloes striker Malani Gondwe down to make 2-0.
Nkwazi Vice-Captain Chikandiwa was a marvel to watch in the middle of the park as tried to make in- roads to Buffaloes Goal and was later denied by the goal post in the second half.
And Nkwazi’s Upcoming goal keeper Makasa Kalaba who was arguably man of match made daring saves and also flew high in the 43th minute to parry away Sabastian Mwansa hot shot which was sure fire goal, Kalaba cried uncontrollably after losing the game and was seen being consoled by his colleagues.
