INDEPENDENT Schools Association of Zambia (ISAZ) cricket coach Ishmael Mbatata says building developmental teams from under 14-year-old to under 20-years-old will make Zambia a cricket fortress in Africa.
Mbatata said reducing gaps in the developmental age groups is one of the solutions that will help players to graduate with maturity and confidence.
Coach Mbatata, a Teacher and Sports Scientist at the Italian School observed a need for a pool of Zambian cricket players to choose from developmental sporting groups.
Mbatata led the Independent Schools Association of Zambia (ISAZ) cricket team to emerge victorious in the just ended Twenty-Twenty (20-20) Kingsley Cricket Festival under 14 and 19 tournaments that took place at Baobab College in Lusaka from 14th to 16th December 2015 by 77 runs beating Zambian Cricket Union team (ZCU) side.
Zimbabwe was represented by Prince Edwards Cricket team and Maximum Academy cricket team, in tournament attracted 6 teams.
