KAPETE WARD COUNCILLOR URGES PRUDENCE USE OF CDF BY BENEFICIARIES:
Kapete Ward councillor Francis Kabichi has called on beneficiaries of CDF in his area to use the funds prudently.
Mr Kabichi has urged clubs and individuals who accessed grants and loans under CDF to use the money for the intended purpose because it will assist to creation local jobs in the area.
Speaking during The Constituency Development Fund Live Radio Program on Chongwe Community Radio Station, Mr. Kabichi indicated that government has done alot in terms of CDF programs which has impacted many lives of the community in the past two years.
Mr. Kabichi disclosed that grants was not money meant for sharing but seed which was meant to improve businesses to uplift livelihoods of people in the area.
The Civic leader urged cooperatives, clubs and individuals to be transparent and be accountable in the usage of grants and loans as government would not condone any abuse of CDF grants and loans and perpetrators risk being prosecuted.
Mr. Kabichi explained that government has constructed Kapete Maternity wing under CDF community Projects for the first time to stop mothers from traveling far distances to access maternity medical services.
He further disclosed that a total of a nine Clubs in Kapete Ward benefited from grants while four Cooperatives benefited from loans under Youth and Women Empowerment in the past two years.
Mr. Kabichi further indicated that a total of 46 pupils in boarding Schools benefited through school bursaries between 2022 to 2023 period while 51 youths were selected for skills development bursaries.
The Civic leader however bemoaned that the challenge was that some youths were shunning away from reporting after being selected to colleges various skills like carpentry , electrical, metal fabrication , hospitality and catering and many more.
