Lukashya Independent Member of Parliament Mwenya Mukonge prioritizes access to education and health

LUKASHYA Independent Member of Parliament Mwenya Mukonge has reiterated his August 2016 commitment to develop the constituency located in Kasama District of the Northern Province.
An accountant by profession, Mr. Mukonge says he is implementing infrastructure development in the education, health and skills sectors.
Mr. Mukonge says improvement in the education and health sectors is facilitated by the annually provided K1.4 million Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and personal money earned as a parliamentarian and entreprenuer.
Since assuming parliamentary office, classrooms and teacher’s accommodation cited as a thorny Siamese Twin is taking centre stage on Mwenya Mukonge’s Lukashya parliamentary community development shopping list.
Citing Nelson Mandela’s prod that education is a sustainable equalizer, Mr. Mukonge says quality education is priority.
And Mr. Mukonge has told _*Kwilanzi News Zambia*_ in an interview that the constituency has equally a lot of health facilities being constructed.
However, Mr. Mukonge is concerned that while, there are a lot of health facilities in the area, there is low staffing of health personnel.
Aside from Lukashya, under Mwenya Mukonge as MP, Kasama Central is the other constituency headed by PF Youth League Chairperson, Kelvin Mutale Sampa in Kasama District of the Northern Province.
According to the Zambia’s Status Population
Census issued on 16th October 2010 by the then Central Statistics Office (CSO) Kasama District had 231, 824 people.
Both Lukashya and Kasama Central Constituencies – share 16 Wards namely; Bululu Ward, Buseko Ward, Chiba Ward, Chibundu Ward, Chilunga Ward, Chumba Ward, Julia Chikamoneka Ward, Kapongolo Ward, Kapumaula Ward, Kasenga Ward, Lualuo Ward, Lukulu Ward, Lukupa Ward, Lusenga Ward, Mukanga Ward, Mulilansolo Ward and Musowa Wards.
National Union of Public and Private Educators General Secretary Nelson Mwale warns teachers against defying Presidential Teaching Lockdown

NATIONAL Union of Public and Private Educators (NUPPEZ) General Secretary Nelson Mwale has
warned teachers to desist from conducting extra lessons as any member found defying a Presidential Lockdown directive will not be protected.
As Zambia entered day three of a second two week Presidential Lockdown, announced by President Edgar Chagwa Lungu on Thursday 9th April 2020, Mr. Mwale told this _*Kwilanzi News Zambia*_
author in an interview in Lusaka that NUPPEZ will not defend anyone teacher caught defying the Presidential directive.
Mr. Mwale says government through President Lungu, Health Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya, General Education Minister David Mabumba and Higher Education Minister Brian Mushimba has been clear on a need for learners and educators to Practice Social Distancing (PSD).
The National Union of Public and Private Educators General Secretary Nelson Mwale restated that gatherings including tuition sessions by teachers are not allowed as they make both learners, teachers and communities susceptible to contracting the Coronavirus.
Patriotic Front is scared of being exposed by critical media, says People’s Alliance for Change leader Andyford Mayele Banda

PEOPLE’S Alliance for Change (PAC) President Andyford Mayele Banda has accused the ruling Patriotic Front of being intolerant of Media Organizations that are critical in Zambia.
Mr. Banda says the reason why PF Leadership think that objective media institutions are against them is based on political fear of wrongs being exposed.

in Lusaka that it is evident enough that the Patriotic Party leadership does not tolerate any form of criticism.
In an apparent reference to a decision by Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) Director General Josephine Mapoma to suspend Gerald Shawa’s Prime Television Broadcasting License, Mr Banda viewed the action as a means to keep the Zambian electorate in the dark as the Thursday 12th August 2021 Local Government, Parliamentary and Presidential Elections approach.
The opposition leader says it is sad to see that every person criticizing the government or offering advice on how to improve the economy being vilified and portrayed as an enemy of the state.
Gender Minister Elizabeth Phiri blames poverty for Increased Gender Based Violence in Zambia

GENDER Minister Elizabeth Phiri has reiterated that poverty is the many contributor to increased Gender Based Violence (GBV) cases in Zambia.
A concerned Ms., Phiri has noted with regret that GBV Survivors are more often than not found in households with low incomes.
In an apprent reference to high poverty, high income inequality and high unemployment, a worried Ms. Phiri, who is Patriotic Front (PF) Kanyama Member of Parliament (MP),; they are less quarrels in families where couples earn income and thus contribute money at domestic level.
The Gender Ministry is saddened that in households with only one bread winner, the other person takes advantage of the one without income, regardless of the GBV’s Survivors gender.
Ms. Phiri told this _*Kwilanzi News Zambia*_ author that the Ministry of Gender is working with local and international cooperating partners in empowering Gender Based Violence (GBV) Survivors.
Ms., Phiri encouraged women and men to leave their violent spouses stressing that there is no need to be in an abusive relationship just for a slice of bread or shelter.
Check fake and crooked Covid 19 donations, Leslie Chikuse advises Health Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya

A ZAMBIAN Governance activist Leslie Chikuse has cautioned Health Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya to be on a lookout as most donations to ongoing Coronavirus Disease (covid 19) donations are being staged managed by publicity seeking individuals.
Mr. Chikuse says the country is watching what stakeholders are donating and once contributions are not accountable or honoured as pledged recipients will be take to book.
Worried by what he termed as contributions made by questionable reputations and social standing, Mr. Chikuse told this _*Kwilanzi News Zambia*_ author in an interview in Lusaka that some of the donations are questionable on account that contributed do not have such resources.
Meanwhile Mr. Chikuse has stressed the need for unity of purpose for Zambia to effectively fight Coronavirus pandemic.
Mr. Chikuse says though the Zambian Government is doing everything possible there is need for all citizens beyond the religious and political divide to unite by following the guidelines spelt out by President Edgar Chagwa Lungu and Health Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya.
