PRESIDENT Edgar Chagwa Lungu is confident that the Zambia is posed to be major exporter of edible oils and other products from cotton, soya beans and maize following the relaunch and commissioning of ZAMANITA reaffirmed.
ZAMANITA plant which is now owned by the export trading group and the Parrogate group of companies has invested about 35 million United States dollars to resume operations at ZAMANITA and restore the plant to its former glory and even better.

Speaking when he officiated the event to make the launch and commissioning of the plant President Lungu reaffirmed that government is championing diversification for sustained growth and socio-economic transformation, driven by agriculture and manufacturing, among others.
The Head of state says in this regard, Government has taken various strides towards Developing and implementing policies to create a favourable environment for these sectors to Thrive, and increase their contribution to the country’s gross domestic product.
The President said this at the during the re-launch and commissioning of ZAMANITAplant which is now owned by the export trading group and the Parrogate group of companies.
Dr. Lungu says the resumption of ZAMANITA is a significant step in as far as the development of industry in Zambia is concerned.
Dr. Lungu believes that the re-launch of the ZAMANITA plant presents a great opportunity for zambia to increase her non-traditional exports, particularly, that oil-cake, and other solid residues of soya beans are already among the major non-traditional exports.
Speaking at the same event Agriculture Minister, Micheal Katambo says the commissioning of the ZAMANITA will go a long way in reviving Soya beans and sunflower as well as providing a readily market for soya beans.
Mr. Katambo says the relaunch of the plant is timely as production of oil in the country has not performed well in the recent years.
Speaking at the same event, ETG Director Mahesh Patel said the company believes in President Edgar Lungu’s development vision for Zambia.
