THE United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) President Charles Chanda has vowed to change the face of Parliament once its National Spokesperson, Francis Mwamba Kope is elected Chilanga Member of Parliament (MP) on Tuesday 5th June 2018.
Following a decision by Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Chairperson Essau Chulu and Director of Elections Chomba Chellah’s declaration of the tenure of United Party for National Development (UPND) then MP Keith Mukata as vacant, Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s Patriotic Front (PF) adopted Margaret Manga, UPND President Hakainde Hichilema fielding Ms. Charmaine Musonda, and UPPZ President Charles Chanda settling for Mr. Kope.
“We want the youth in Parliament from 2021. Ancestors need retirement. Those who are thinking of gate crashing at the last minute will not find room in UPPZ. We are going to be the first party in Zambia to have SHADOW MPs who will start serving communities with immediate effect. Zambia needs a change,” vowed UPPZ President Charles Chanda.
A cross section of the Zambian electorate beyond Chilanga welcomed a decision by UPPZ to field Kope, a professional journalist by profession, with Nakweti H Nakweti said: “Hon Francis Kope you are not alone in this we are together it may seem far but we are as one coz our goal is to see Uppz Zambia make an impact to the political Hemisphere in Zambia. God bless Zambia”. Abson Makoye remarked that he and team CC 2021 from Chikobo Ward are backing the Francis Kope and Gladys Mutale Mwamba said: “Man of God ,we are ready to vote you,God is able to assist you”.
Sonile Mulembi Mulyunga Mpho says Kope is a candidate bringing a lot of hope to the communiity. Samuel Chonya said: “GO Francis Kope” You go and camp there if not doing so already! Don’t leave that place till you come back to us with a seat!”.
A confident Victor Salaam Musonda predicted: “I won’t be surprised when Hon. Francis Kope scoops the seat, you Chilanga is a place of unexpected silent miracles. People there are calm and well-informed, so they’ll need educated candidates and young leaders like this. Even if some cadres will be ferried there, but that hunting ground is a bit different from these traditional constituencies of Lusaka. All the best my brother”. Solomon Kataba Ng’ambi said: “Aah Francis Kope. ‘All the best I’m sure you’ve tapped the wisdom from the UPPZ prez Mr. Charles Chanda. Yes we need a fresh leadership under a fresh party. Not historical leadership. Go Mr Kope go Chilanga will be empowered”. Charles Mwanza assured Francis Kope of the youuth vote stating: “We are behind you as we want to let ‘Youths’ take the lead Vote UPPZ one Campaign-One win for Team CC”. Emmanuel Kashiwa Chisanga said: “We there for you honourable until we enter Parliament, it is well my honourable”.
A journalism peer Nickson Bwalya, encouraged “Go on Comrade, people are tired of political parties that cant dialogue. Time to usher in fresh ideas, with Kope promising to grow the UPPZ Operation Youth 2021 and Chilanga brand which is now built 4, 000 landlords, provided entrepreneurial and business skills to thousands of people, encouraging sports and recreation and vowed to increase planned
Youth interest at parliamentary level.
And Diamond Television Zambia reported that UPND Candidate, Charmaine Mehl Musonda like Kope, had successfully filed in her nominations for the Chilanga Parliamentary by-election set for 5th June 2018, witnessed by UPND President Hakainde Hichilema and Vice President Dr. Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba GBM joining aspiring candidate Charmaine Musonda during the filing in of nominations.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Commissioner, Justice Christopher Mushabati, hosted a meeting with Traditional Leaders in Chilanga ahead of the Tuesday June 5th, 2018 Chilanga by-election witnessed by ECZ Vice-Chairperson, Mrs. Annette Nhekairo and Senior Headman Nkomeshya.
