IJF hands over “Judo Hall” to Zambia Judo Association

MINISTRY of Youth, Sport and Child Development (MYSCD) Permanent Secretary Joe Kapembwa says Government attaches great importance to the development of sport in Zambia.
Kapembwa is happy that the International Judo Federation (IJF) selected Zambia as “International Olympic Training Center” (IOTC) for judo athletes by constructing Judo Hall worth 326,000 Euros a move increasing participation in the sports discipline and minting of medals during competitive games.
Witnessing the handover of the newly constructed Judo Hall (Dojo) on Monday 26th March, 2018 to Zambia Judo Association (ZJA) by the International Judo Federation (IJF) at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC), an elated Kapembwa restated support to judo through the Podium Performance Programme (PPP) and urged all sports federations to emulate the construction of the Judo Hall by engaging international federations.
Earlier, Zambia Judo Association (ZJA) president Alfred Foloko, who is National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) president expressed optimism that the Judo Hall (Dojo) will improve competitive participation the sport discipline, through increased athletes qualifying to regional games.
“I wish to thank the Zambian Government through the Podium Performance Programme and the International Judo Federation for ensuring supporting the construction of this Dojo,” said Foloko.
Meanwhile, International Judo Federation architecture Felix Fofiu, before officially handing over the Judo Hall to Zambia Judo Association president Foloko, said IJF will continue to interacting with the Zambia Government and ensure improved standards of the sport discipline.
