Some Stakeholders that includes Zambian DNA, Bethel Baptist Church and Movement for Economic Empowerment and Democracy (MEED) have urged the United Party for National Development (UPND) to respect Edgar Chagwa Lungu as a duly elected President of the Republic of Zambia as the country moves towards national dialogue.
The three organisations applauded the idea of Zambia holding a National Dialogue Meeting to end tension that has taken centre stage in the country since the last disputed General Elections.
The stakeholders say it is their view that the national dialogue will put behind acrimony that has left the country divided.
According to a joint letter signed by Zambian DNA, Bethel Baptist Church and Movement for Economic Empowerment and Democracy (MEED), dialogue meeting is welcome.
“Nevertheless, the agenda must be inclusive of national interest and not individuals’ as this is the only way forward,” the consortium of three organisations said.
They said the agenda of the dialogue meeting should be free from foreign influence but should be anchored on the principles of the country’s sovereignty.
