NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC ) Vice President Joseph Akafumba has described the recent acquittal of Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya by Senior Resident Magistrate, Lameck Mwale as laughable.
Counsel Akafumba, a legal practitioner by profession says it was expected that Dr. Chilufya’s case was going nowhere following the statements attributed to President Edgar Chagwa Lungu in Ndola, Copperbelt Province.
Mr. Akafumba says all investigators became scared of taking evidence to the court in fear of been fired by President Lungu, a characteristic manifested by an ACC Investigator adducing evidence, that subtly exonerated Dr. Chilufya from any impropriety.

Mr. Akafumba has told Kwilanzi News Zambia in an interview in Lusaka that investigators at the ACC had strong evidence against the Health Minister confirmed by the arrest, a prosecution weakened by political heavyweights.
Counsel Akafumba observed that the reason ACC brought out the case was to genuinely prosecute the matter at hand but this credible attempt was lost as the Health Minister became protected by powers that be.
Borrowing a cue from a Zambian dialect; ‘Umulandu tabuola’ a case never rots, Counsel Akafumba remained optimistic that no matter what political detergent is use, in the not too distant future, the botched Dr. Chitalu matter will be ressurrected.
Still on graft, Patriotic Front (PF) Publicity Team Member Chendela Mukondo advised the Anti-Corruption Commission to ensure that they fight fraud at all levels as opposed to just concentrating on those in government.
Mr. Mukondo says corruption does not only involve the Ministers but everyone involved in Zambia.
The PF Publicity Team Member says it is wants the commission to fight corruption at all angles, as opposed to placing focus on individuals in Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s Cabinet.
Mr. Mukondo prodded the commission to take heed Lungu’s counsel and extend their fight against corruption in the country beyong Cabinet Ministers and State House Oficials.

In addition, Mr. Mukondo has condemned sections of society criticizing the launch of empowerment programmes by government as a jealous lot on account of the huge benefits to ordinary Zambians.
Mr. Mukondo finds it is unfair for opposition parties to always criticize what President Lungu is doing, instead of supporting empowerment programmes spearheaded by the Republican Head of State.
The Patriotic Front Publicity Team Member boisterously stated that in comparison to previous governments, Government had developed Zambia evident by ongoing road and public houses, schools and hospitals being constructed.
