LUWINGU Town Council has started rehabiliting and mantaining township roads in the district.
Luwingu Town Council Chairperson Mrs Christine Kalinso, who went to inspect the works on the roads on Wednesday 13th May 2020, said the the rehabilitation of the streets was flagged off last week with Mainteneke area being the first to receive the facelift.
The Council Chair who was accompanied by Luwingu Acting Town Council Secretary, Mr. Joseph Zulu and Engineers from the council as well as Katopola and Namukolo ward councilors , Mr. Rhodricks Mulenga and Mr. Moses Banda respectively, said that she was happy with the works being done on the roads so far and that it had been a cry of the people in the district to have the Township roads worked on.
Mrs Kalinso however appealed to the residents to cooperate with the local authority to ensure that proper and smooth mantainance of roads is done .
Meanwhile, Acting Town Council Secretary Mr. Joseph Zulu explained that the rehabilitation excercise which is projected to be complete before the on set of rains , will see township roads being done to basic gravel standard so as to enable for easy and efficient movement of people.
Mr. Zulu said that once the works are done in the Township the council will then roll out the mantainance and rehabilitation program to rural areas.
