The rally was at Kitwe’s Freedom Park and was broadcast live on national TV. He was in high spirits and, as usual, at his lyrical best.
Introducing candidate Mwanawasa, he began: “Ba Mwanawasa te bashimbe nga ine.”
He then broke into song: “Ubushimbe nabumpesha amano mayo ubushimbe…”
After the musical interlude, he turned to how he dribbled all the presidential hopefuls in the MMD and settled for Mwanawasa.
“Ala muma politics bane mwabe njuka. Nalibadilibula bonse,” he told the cheering crowd, praising himself as a ‘political engineer.
