Farming inputs ready, assures Agro PS Julius Shawa

Agriculture Ministry Permanent Secretary (PS) Julius Shawa assures citizens that inputs are ready but logistical and ware housing challenges may act as a stumbling block by delaying fertilizer and seed reaching the farmers.
Mr. Shawa restated the Patriotic Front (PF) regard of agriculture as bearing a step by step chain effect on farming activities countrywide.
The Agriculture Ministry conceded that the Zambian Government, through Agriculture Minister Dora Siliya grappling with inadequate ware housing, documented as an integral part of the fertilizer and seed distribution exercise.
“Investors must take advantage of challenges of storage of seed by establishing business initiatives and services like warehousing and I appeal to the farming community. The contribution of K400 in line with the E-voucher system so that eligible farmers can receive fertilizer and seed. The Government have given 7 (seven) day ultimatum to local banks to provide swiping cards to farmers. Zambian farmers are free to go to any agro dealer to collect inputs in the 39 Districts in total under E-voucher system. Government has spent K500 million (five hundred million kwacha) on the project.
