United Party for National Development(UPND) Secretary General Steven Katuka has described as petty and naïve allegations by the ruling Patriotic Front(PF) that his party is sabotaging operations at Zesco, a power utility firm.
Speaking in an interview with Pan African Radio, Katuka said it is unfortunate that the PF want to hide their inability to run the nation in petty lies.
Katuka said the persisting power outages is as a result of Zesco’s incompetence, saying his party has nothing to do with power crisis that was experienced in five provinces.
The bad blood between the police and UPND cadres came to the fore at the high court grounds when they clashed with several people.
This was during the presidential petition case hearing in the constitutional court brought by UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and his running mate Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba.
Trouble started when the cadres learnt that the matter will be heard in chambers and not in an open court.
They burst into chants of we want change setting up chaotic scenes in the Supreme Court grounds.
As the situation spiraled out of control, police called for re-enforcements with clashes culminating into an all attack clash that saw teargas canisters thrown with several UPND members arrested. www.derricksinjela.blogspot.com
