No women must die in child birth, vows Chitalu Chilufya

HEALTH Minister Chitalu Chilufya says Government is determined to completely stop loss of women in child birth, reports Pan African Radio Journalist Derrick Sinjela.
In a speech read by Southern Province Provincial Medical Officer, Dr. Jelita Chinyonga, Dr. Chilufya expressed hope that once correct guidelines are adhered to expectant mothers will not die.
Launching the MATERNAL DEATH SURVEILLANCE AND RESPONSE (MDSR) AND PERINATAL DEATHS, HELD AT GOVERNMENT COMPLEX, LUSAKA ON 16TH DECEMBER 2016 on the THEME: “Multi-sectoral Response to MDSR and Perinatal Deaths” Dr Chilufya expressed optimism that no women will die in child birth.

“No child must die in child birth and our optimism is inspired by support rendered through UNFPA,” Dr. Chilufya said during a Government Complex launch witnessed by UNFPA Reproductive Health Specialist Dr. Stephen Mupeta, WorldHealth Organisation (WHO) Maternal Health Specialist Dr. Sarah Bvulani Malumo, Southern Province Medical Officer, Dr. Rosemary Mwanza, Ministry of Health (MoH) Deputy Director of Public Health, Dr. Francis Bwalya and Chief Safe Motherhood Officer, Dr. Caren Chizuni.

And in speaking earlier during the launch of Zambia Household Health Expenditure and Utilization Survey, the indefatigable Health Minister, Dr. Chitalu said the Social Health Bill will reduce hardship in health care, reports Jacqueline Mwitwa and Deborah Chileshe .
Dr Chilufya explained that the bill will improve the number of health facilities and quality health care.
Meanwhile, the health minister said government will in 2017 recruit 7400 health workers and out of that 5400 will be on payroll. www.derricksinjela.blogspot.com
