Road traffic accidents worry Brian Mushimba

Transport and Communications Minister Brian Mushimba says it is a well-known fact that Zambia today and has claimed the lives of family members and bread winners, reports Ashton Kelly Bunda.
Mr. Mushimba said that Government is cognizant of the fact people are losing lives due to deteriorating road usher behavior and that recent road accident statistics reveal that over 87 percent of the road traffic accident in Zambia are attributed to human error related factors, he was speaking during the launch of the road safety week that took place at Government complex in Lusaka under the theme: “Pledge Road Saftey: No Drink Driving, Driving 100 percent Seat Belt Use and No Over Speeding.”
Mushimba emphasized that over speeding and drinking form a greater portion of the road traffic accidents, most road crashes which are recorded every day are as result of bad road user behavior and government shall not allow high levels of lawlessness to go unchecked.
Mushimba added that Government need to synergize their efforts in order to address the problem of traffic accidents and that it will be done in line with pillars of the United Nations decades of action for road safety.
