CiSCA PRESS STATEMENT LUSAKA, Thursday 22nd NOVEMBER 2018
THE Civil Society Constitution Agenda (CiSCA) is pleased to learn that concerns that surrounded the National Dialogue and Reconciliation process have been resolved, resulting in stakeholders agreeing that the three Church Mother Bodies will lead the process.
This has been the prayer and hope of CiSCA all along. Therefore, the news that the the Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) and the three Church Mother Bodies have settled their perceived differences is elating not only to CiSCA but to many Zambians.
In addition, CiSCA is happy to also learn that President Edgar Lungu and opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema met ahead of the dialogue process.
The meeting is hopefully, an indication of the dawn of a new era in our political discourse that will lead to the much needed reconciliation, unity and coexistence in the Nation, as well as commitment to uphold the rule of law. In this regard, CiSCA urges all parties in the dialogue to avoid actions that may again delay or endanger the prospect of a successful dialogue.
It is for this reason that CiSCA commends the Church and ZCID for exhibiting high maturity levels and resolving the impasse on the dialogue for the sake of progress.
CiSCA will follow the dialogue process with interest and supports national dialogue as the starting point to address the numerous political challenges that the country if currently facing.
