Employ local people, High Commissioner Emmanuel Mwamba, urges investment groups eyeing Zambia

ZAMBIA’S High Commissioner to South Africa, Emmanuel Mwamba is prodding investment groups coming into Zambia to prioritise employing qualified Zambians for senior positions.
Commissioner Mwamba said Zambia is seeking foreign investments to help grow the local economy and better the lives of ordinary people.
Speaking at a dinner held at Taj Pamodzi Hotel by Liberty, one of South Africa’s largest Insurance and Pension Scheme company, Commissioner Mwamba restated Zambia’s desire to witness increased employment opportunities for indigenous communities
And Minister of Health, Dr. Chitalu Chilufya assured prospecting investors that Government had finalised drafting the Health Bill allowing for mass medical insurance earmarked to contribute to the provision of health care in Zambia.
Dr. Chilufya, a Patriotic Front (PF) Mansa Member of Parliament (MP) in Luapula Province advised the private companies to tap into the economy of health especially for tertiary health.
Dr. Chilufya said government was spending huge amounts of money to evacuate patients to India and South Africa and urged the private sector to help set up local high quality health facilities to provide quality services currently sought abroad. Aside from Luapula, Zambia’s 10 Provinces include Central, Copperbelt, Eastern, Lusaka, Muchinga, Northern, North-Western, Southern and Western.
And Minister of National Development Planning Lucky Mulusa said that Zambia was among the best investment destination in Africa.
Mr. Mulusa said that what had previously impeded the country’s potential was lack of infrastructure.
“For the first time since 1975, Zambia is rolling out a highly ambitious massive infrastructure development in Airports, Roads, bridges and other facilities to promote economic growth in mining, tourism and agriculture,” said Mulusa.
And Liberty Life Managing Director, Mark Gobie said Liberty was making a huge investment in the country and sought to participate in the insurance and pension market.
