MIDLANDS Amateur Boxing Association (MABA) Secretary Christian Kalima says the year 2015 was a “Stepping stone “that catapulted amateur boxing to a greater heights.
Alluding to a number of boxing tournaments, Kalima expressed delight that the exhibitions discovered new talent which paint a bright grass roots boxing future.
The overjoyed Kalima bragged that countless tournaments garnered by his organization helped boys and Girls gain confidence as Zambia prepares to compete in the Zone 4 Boxing Championships in mid-January and the February 2016 Zone 6 tournament to be hosted by Cameroon.
The Midlands Amateur Boxing Association Secretary says aside from adequate training, personal discipline and opportunities of earning money through boxing are being imparted in the young boxers.
Kalima rated 2015 as a good year for boxing, though Zambia performed poorly during the Congo Brazzaville All Africa Games tournament, with Ben Muziyo winning a bronze medal.
