MOVEMENT for multiparty Democracy MMD president Dr Nevers Sekwila Mumba has advised president Edgar Chagwa Lungu to not attend the inauguration of newly elected Tanzanian President Magufuli and instead delegate Foreign Affairs Minister, Harry Kalaba.
Dr. Mumba took a position that President Lungu must considering delegating Mr. Kalaba, a Patriotic Front (PF) Bahati Member of Parliament (MP), on account of current financial and economic woes confronting Zambia.
Dr. Mumba protested that it is very expensive for a seating Republican President to travel anywhere in the world as such expenditure can be reduced through delegating diplomatic subordinates.
“A lot of people that are supposed to travel with a Head of State and Government, so it is prudent to delegate Zambian missions or send his Mr. Kalaba,” advised Dr. Mumba
Meanwhile, Patriotic Front (PF) Media and Publicity Committee Vice-Chairperson Sunday Chanda criticized Dr. Mumba arguing that as a former Zambian diplomat in Canada, the televangelist turned politician must appreciate the importance of President Lungu travelling.
Chanda said Zambia and Tanzania has a very good economic relationship therefore Dr Mumba should not engage in mare chip politicking of name calling and rubbishing anything president lungu does all in the name of opposition.
