Toyota Zambia ploughs K10 million in Cricket tourney

TOYOTA Zambia has donated K 10 million towards the successful a cricket tournament set to take place on Sunday 13th of November 2011 at Lotus Sports Club in Lusaka
Speaking during Zambia Sri-Lanka Friendship Association Press Briefing at Lusaka’s Southern Sun Ridgway Hotel, Co-coordinator for British community, Peter Cottan said the targeted amount of K 125 Million for the tournament had since been reached with the expected a prospect of exceeding the target.
Cottan explained that 75 percent of the money raised would be ploughed into a Step-up-Centre, meant to help underprivileged members and groups in society.
“The Zambia Sri-Lanka Friendship Association Cricket tournament is set to take place this Sunday the 13th of November and the target amount has been reached and there is hope that the amount will exceed the target and 75 percent will go to step-up centre which is meant to help underprivileged in society,” an optimistic Cottan bragged.
And Toyota Customer Relations Manager Juliet Mpande said the money which has been donated will go along way in helping the event to take place.
Mpande reiterated Toyota Zambia’s resolve towards developing Zambian sport in partnership with ZSFA through increased funding to a diversity of sports disciplines, pointing out that last year Toyota Zambia donated about 100 million to the national team to purchase a motor vehicle.
“Toyota Zambia is very happy to partner with ZSFA in increasing the funding to sports which is about 200,000us dollars which has been given today and last year they also donated k100million to the national team. We are happy to help in the event and will do so annually,” Mpande pledged.
