Patriotic Front (PF) Media Director Sunday Chanda has condemned a violent clash involving PF and United Party for National Development (UPND) Cadres witnessed at Lusaka’s Leopards Memorial Park on Saturday 24th June 2017.
In a telephone interview with Pan African Radio Journalist, Dyson Jayson Bubala, in Lusaka, an audibly frustrated Mr. Chanda advised the PF and UPND to organize intra-party civic education at all levels.
Chanda described the Leopard Memorial Park incident as worrying as it is motivated by a desire to gain political convenience mileage, instead of encouraging PF and UPND cadres to co-exist.
Reflecting on the Saturday 24th June 2017 Leopards Memorial Park fracas, Chanda conveyed sympathy to the family of UPND cadre Clance Zulu and PF cadre Amos Chilufya lamenting that the duo deserved a decent burial.
“My prayer is that both PF and UPND must tame cadres by conducting intra-party civic education. I believe that this will in turn result in PF and UPND co-existing,” advised Chanda on UPND and PF co-existence
And featuring on Diamond Television’s Breakfast show on Monday, 26th June 2017, Chanda advised the United Party for National Development (UPND) to wait for their time boasting that for now till 2021 Zambians chose President Edgar Chagwa Lungu as a legitimate Head of State.
“President Lungu is the only legitimately elected Head of State, and it is better for UPND to wait for their time,” Chanda said in an apparent reference to UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema, who has adamantly refused to recognize President Lungu.
