UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) Secretary General Steven Katuka has disclosed that the Patriotic Front (PF) led by its Lusaka District Chairperson Kennedy Kamba has been holding clandestine meetings scheming to frustrate the Presidential Petition that resumes sitting on 15th March 2017.
Katuka said his office has received reports that the PF have been having meetings to cause chaos while wearing UPND party regalia to paint a bad picture to the international community that the opposition UPND is a violent party in Zambia.
Katuka said the reports came from staunch PF cadres who attended the meetings, and the UPND SG wondered why the PF are panicking if they genuinely won elections on 11th August, 2016.
Katuka said the UPND is ahead of the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) in terms of information on every political activity and has since noted that any maneuvers to disturb the court proceedings by the suspected PF supporters will not work out this time because the UPND despite being the largest opposition political party in Zambia knows all its members.
But when reached for a comment, PF Deputy Spokesperson father Frank Bwalya parried the assertions aside, charging that the ruling Party supporters has never caused any confusion and will never cause mayhem at court premises.
Father Bwalya explained that when the UPND Vice President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba is appearing in court for threatening the life of President Edgar Lungu, the PF cadres go to court but they ensure that law and order is maintained during and after court proceedings.
He said the UPND only want to cause confusion during the court proceedings with the aim to put the name of the ruling PF and the Zambia police Service into disrepute as they did previously.
