AFTER 800 hundred plus boreholes dug nationwide with 7 in Western Province, Muslim Social and Welfare Trust led by Idris Gangat assured Community Development and Social Services Minister Doreen Sefuke-Mwamba and Zambia Association of Persons with Disabilities (ZAPD) Acting Director General (ADG) Nicholas Goma to an extra borehole in Chifwema area of Kafue District.
As boreholes in the rural settlements, similar to the rustic environment in Chifwema are spaced at a considerable distance from the first borehole sunk, Mr. Gangat pledged to ease this burden by sinking an extra borehole.
Following a short caucus meeting at the conclusion presentation of food hampers to the Persons with Disabilities in Chifwema area, of Lusaka Prorovince, a delighted Ms. Sefuke-Mwamba told residents that as ‘water is life’ to people and animals,, the Muslim Social and Welfare Trust would sink an additional borehole.
An affable Gangat told Zambian Children Young People and Woman in Development (ZCYPWD) Kwilanzi News Zambia (KNZ) that the Muslim religion teaches empathy and sympathy as well as a practical philosophy of sharing with less privileged neighbours.
“The New Dawn Administration led by Mr. Hakainde Sammy Hichilema and Reverend Witner Kapembwa Mutale-Nalumango had created an environment where Muslims practice their religion and are free to do business,” Gangat explained.
“I just engaged my colleague Mr. Idris Gangat in conversation after giving out food hampers, and the Muslims Social and Welfare Trust agree to drill more boreholes as water is very important to both human beings and animal. I am a Christian but I easily associate with Muslims,” Ms. Sefuke-Mwamba gestured to an applause, in which Women’s Representative and Vice Head Person, Susan Kanyanda and Chifwema Chairperson Ackim Mwansa joined.
Chifwema Residents had earlier petitioned for an extra borehole as water is fetched a long distances from households, most of which are headed by visually impaired and disabled persons.
