CHIEF Shakumbila Chiefdom’s Village Mafuwa Headperson Shamilimo Milimo has backed commencement of environmental awareness education programmes Shibuyunji District’s meant to impart conservation knowledge to the locals.
An elated Headperson Milimo praised International Crane Foundation (ICF), Wildlife Environment Conservation Society of Zambia (WECSZ) and Bird Watch Zambia (BWZ) environment protection knowledge Game Management Area (GMA) of Shibuyunji District,
Mr. Milimo applauded ongoing conservation environment conservation programmes which have won Chief Shakumbila’s unwavering support, as the traditional leadership courts subjects to embrace knowledge shared by ICF, BWZ and WCSZ.
“Chief Chakumbila is very concerned about environmental matters and wants to see to it that his subjects take up an active role in supporting the programmes aimed at conserving and protecting the natural resource. As a chiefdom we continue discouraging indiscriminate cutting of tress,” assured Milimo.
ICF programmes Manager David Banda said Zambia is blessed with an outstanding good environment resource which if well managed can tremendously take facilitate her being a bread basket.
International Crane Foundation is an environmental organization seeking conservation and wise use and management of wetlands country wide.
Banda implored learners and residents in Shibuyunji district to take keen interest in acquisition of knowledge on the importance of environmental protection.
