Democratic party (DP) President Harry Kalaba has announced new changes to the structure of the DP and has noted that their are changes he introduced Mr. Jewish Chabi as Secretary General (SG).
National Secretary Chabi is deputized by Thomas Sipalo appointed as Deputy National Mobilization Chairperson.
Mr. Kalaba noted that the retirement of PF from the government was a humiliation due to their pomposity and arrogance displayed during their reign.
Kalaba noted that the party was founded for the poor but had begun flying in high seas of corruption hence sinking the boat.
“As DP, a party that wants to be in Government, we shall endeavor to provide, food education, less privileged. We congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema before the declaration and we shall take responsibility of holding the United Party for National Development (UPND) Government and accountable, commend and give guidance, as it is our considered view that as a government, in waiting we must provide credible criticism,” said Kalaba.
Making reference to Mr. Hichilema’s maiden speech, Kalaba is delighted that the Seventh Republican President undertook to review the Public Order Act (POA).
And Kalaba is worried that cadres are still collecting levies at bus stations and markets.
“We are aware that cadres are still in the markets and bus stops. We must deal with the cadres by urgent provision of employment or deployment into Zambia National Service (ZNS). Our fear is that if the solution is not found, we shall notice high rise in criminal activities,” grieved Kalaba
“We are cautiously following the government promises, and notice that the UPND is silent on free education. As DP, we will be patient as a vulture, and if what is done is at variance with promises, we shall offer a credible criticism,” said Kalaba.
“We want to participate in all by elections as an equal contender, we shall champion the rights of youth sand majority Zambians, restoration of hope, fostering national unity and creation of social protection for everyone,” vowed Kalaba as he asked Sipalo and Chabi to organise the party ahead of the October 2021 parliamentary and local government elections.
