United United Prosperous& Peaceful (UPPZ) President Charles Chanda has described the election of United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema as a victory of the Zambian people.
As a delighted entreprenuer – turned politician, Mr. Chanda is glad that after a tortourous decade at long last Zambia citizens can now walk with their heads high without being harassed by panga-wielding cadres at bus stations, markets and community level.
Chanda, who competed in national elections for the first time, waging a splendid performance, coming eighth (8th) among 16 competitors using individual resources is hopeful that given unwavering support, President Elect Hichilema and Vice President Elect Mutale Nalumango will empower the Zambian people and protect citizens from business insecurity.
Noted an optimistic Chanda: “Off course, I have already congratulated President Elect, His Excellency, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, for the great victory. It is a indeed a triumph if the Zambian people. One cannot deny this feat of liberty, but say finally, I can walk the streets of Zambia without interference from the Patriotic Front (PF) cadres. One can sleep peacefully without receiving police officers that are sent to intimidate the opposition. At least, one can feel that I am in a country now, we have come out of a furnace of fire, where even your own business is interfered with just to make sure that they pin you down. It was hell, sometimes you hear sentiments and you just accept them. Things were bad and we have learnt some lessons as citizens and leaders to never take God’s people for granted, something that we can not run away from. We can praise the leaders and give them thanks, says everything, because, we are supposed to to submit to the government of the day, just like now, I as Charles Chanda, President of the United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia, I have to submit to the UPND Government of the day,” noted Chanda.
Like any other citizen or human being domiciled in Zambia, Chanda reiterated that he has no choice but to submit to the Hichilema led leadership.
“I have no choice like all citizens but to submit to the government of the day as a teaching of a Christian, and it is not a questionable tenet,” admonished Chanda.
As a self-sponsored aspirant in the just concluded Thursday 12th August 202 competitive Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government Election, Chanda is prodding young people, women and all citizens to understand that business and economics has rules which cannot be jumped.
“Our President, Hakainde Hichilema is an economist by profession, and a politician. That is why he had to use political language to convince the 7, 000, 000 to vote and support him. What is key is for each one of us to support him. I listened to his speech and I was impressed with the message I got. Well, if this is the direction we are taking, am convinced that we have a real change agent. So let us give the President some time to work. He has not settled down in his office and yet to be sworn. Let us give our President ,” notèd Mr. Chanda.
“Zambians need to give our man time to rest and reflect on work done in the recent past. I am glad our President is an economist, capable of understanding the issue of rest,” noted Chanda.
