“Our Zambian borders are open,” Judith Kapijimpanga invites Indian Manufacturers
New Delhi, Sunday (August 8, 2021)
Zambia’s High Commissioner to India Judith Kapijimpanga has urged Indian manufacturers to consider Zambia as their safest destination for investment.
She said Zambia looked forward to attracting investors from approximately 600 paper mills in India which had twelve major players.
Mrs. Kapijimpanga said there was need for more producers and converters of products such as printing, fine and writing papers, papers for packaging use, thin packaging papers, tissue papers, papers for corrugated board, fluting, testliner, wrapping paper, packaging papers and misc.
This came to light when she addressed manufacturers at the inaugural Session of 3P India- Africa Virtual International Expo 2021 focusing on paper, packaging, plastic and printing.
Mrs. Kapijimpanga said demand is high to print products such as newspapers, books, periodicals, business forms, greeting cards, and other materials, and perform support activities, such as bookbinding, platemaking, and data imaging.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Kapijimpanga said demand for plastic products in Zambia remains high.
She named categories of plastic products on demand in Zambia as those used for PVC roofing, sewer and water pipes, drinking bottles, jars, containers, packaging applications, grocery bag, opaque milk, juice container, shampoo bottles, and medicine bottle, toys, blister wrap, cling wrap, detergent bottles, loose-leaf binders, blood bags, medical tubing, containers, egg cartons, disposable cups and bowls, packaging, and bike helmets.
Mrs. Kapijimpanga said Zambia has a law to deal with indiscriminate disposal of waste as the Environment Management Act which deals with Extended producer responsibility demands that a person whose activities generate waste with potential to pollute the environment shall employ measures essential to minimise waste through treatment, reclamation, re-use, recovery or recycling.
And Mrs. Kapijimpanga has invited manufacturers of packaging products to consider Zambia for their investment.
She said opportunities for packaging are plenty in the wake of priority areas that include; food processing, textiles and clothing, mineral processing, chemical products, engineering, leather products, electrical goods, pharmaceutical products and packaging of so many other materials.
Mrs. Kapijimpanga added that Zambia boasted of a stable political system, a positive and investor friendly environment, attractive Investment Incentives, progressive banking, Legal, and insurance services of International Standards, abundant natural resources, access to regional, wider Africa, EU and USA Markets.
