Dear Friends &
Colleagues
On behalf of the Board of Governors, the Executive Director, Management and Staff of PMRC, I wish you all a Prosperous new year. As Chairman of the PMRC Board, I take this opportunity to offer gratitude to our entire stakeholders for the continued support rendered to the institution. The year 2020 brought about several challenges for mankind and we all had to adapt to new innovations of executing our mandate amidst challenges. The resolve that we showed in 2020 should be an encouragement to us all that amidst challenges and uncertainties, we can stand firm and determined to achieve that which we plan to achieve. The year 2021 is monumental for Zambia, as the country goes to the polls in August to exercise sovereign and democratic rights of electing leaders at all levels. Under our Governance thematic area, PMRC will play its role in civic information dissemination and capacitating communities.
His Excellency, the President of the republic recently launched the Zambia Economic Recovery Programme as a springboard towards a new trajectory of growth and development for Zambia. Fellow citizens, in order to ensure that the recovery programme is successful, we must all join our efforts and work towards realizing the vision that we have set for ourselves as a nation. My call to all citizens is to take time to reflect on our development trajectory as a nation. To reflect on the several interventions that have been instituted with aim of ensuring that we move closer towards being a developed middle income nation by the year 2030.
PMRC is committed to further deliver its mandate of promoting public understanding of policy and development issues whilst also encouraging the citizenry to be patriotic and always put Zambia first. We cannot overestimate the importance of inculcating a positive mindset among citizens in relations to national matters. To this effect, we shall continue to pursue our programmes aimed at a National Mindset Education Programme for Zambia. We believe that time has come for all of us as citizens of this great nation, to exhibit a more positive approach towards our nation as we are goodwill ambassadors of our country and it is our duty to send out positive messages to the rest of the world about the beauty and opportunities that exist in our country.
PMRC remains committed to continuously work towards supporting Government institutions, agencies and development partners in developing evidence-based policy recommendations for the effective delivery of the national development agenda. We commit to continue providing policy analysis to compliment the Government in the pursuit of prudent macroeconomic policies, increasing the economy’s resilience to shocks, and achieve higher and inclusive growth. With this pledge, We will continue to partner with all like-missioned institutions to bolster our efforts and work towards encouraging debate on social and economic policy issues critical to national development and economic transformation.
Wishing you all a prosperous 2021
Hon. Margaret Mwanakatwe, MP
PMRC Board Chairman
