FRIDAY 6th November 2020 can be summed as an early Christmas gift day, as 25 Shoprite customers won 25 red single cab Isuzu D-MAX pick-ups, following a competition designed to celebrate the firm’s silver jubilee existence on the Zambian market.
Franked by brand ambassador Brandina Lubili, and Isuzu Action Auto Limited Zambia dealer principal, Michael Bentley, a delighted Shoprite Zambia General Manager Charles Bota explained that the genesis of the prize giving event was to give sustainable empowerment and mobility to lucky customers.
Beckoning a mining engineer, recently retired, an optimistic Mr. Bota acknowledged that the red single cab Isuzu D-MAX pick-up will help Festo Bubala, wife Mutinta Bubala, six biological children and six dependents settle as a farming family.
“Shoprite has been in Zambia for 25 years since 1995, and we are giving back 25 red single cab Isuzu D-MAX pick-ups to the community in which our shops are located countrywide in Central, Copperbelt, Eastern, Luapula, Lusaka, Northern, North-Western, Southern and Western provinces,” enthused Mr. Bota pointing out that the firm is yet to open a shop in Muchinga Province.
Engineer Festo Bubala showered praise on Shoprite Zambia for the red single cab Isuzu D-MAX pick-up as it was will supplement his retirement package and ease life in retirement.
“I just retired last week, and I am really happy to win this car,” said a soft spoken Mr. Bubala, moments after Mr. Bota and Brand Ambassador Brandina Lubili handed over car keys to the red single cab Isuzu D-MAX pick-up.
The Shoprite Zambia 25th Birthday Promotion involved all Shoprite Stores Country-wide in 37 stores located in nine of the country’s ten provinces from the Monday 17th of August 2020 until Sunday 4th October 2020.
To mouth water the taste buds of entrants, the Isuzu D-MAX 250 Fleetside Single Cabs, all in Pull-Me-Over-Red Colour, were displayed at all the major stores during this period, next to a big ISUZU-cut out entry box with flashing headlights accommodating more than one million entries in total, making this one of the best participated Shoprite Promotions in 15 African Countries; Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Eswatini, Uganda and Zambia in which Shoprite operates.
Isuzu Action Auto Limited Zambia dealer principal, Michael Bentley, the dealership has enjoyed a valuable partnership with Shoprite over the years.
The Africa Super Markets Group Zambia has been a large fleet owner of Isuzu in Zambia since 2009. “The group currently has 24 Isuzu pick-ups in the Shoprite Fleet, with another 16 units between OK Furniture, Computicket and Freshmark. When Shoprite announced they were looking for vehicles for their 25th birthday anniversary celebration campaign earlier this year, we did not hesitate to contact them and ask them to consider the ISUZU D-MAX Single Cab,” said Mr. Bentley.
The Isuzu D-MAX Fleetside Single Cab remains one of best-selling models in Zambia and has retained its popularity for a number of years.
Mr. Bentley said the dealership received an increase in enquiries from consumers who had seen the vehicles on display at the various stores during the of Shoprite birthday promotion.
Action Auto Isuzu in conjunction with Shoprite hosted the vehicle handover at R & G events – Papa Joe’s Zambia restaurant, on 11962 Ngwerere Road, next to Chamba Valley Farm and close to Kalimba Reptile Park in collaboration with BrandCorp Advertising Agency.

The Shoprite Group of companies was established in 1979. In 1990 Shoprite opened in Namibia. In 1998, it acquired the national Checkers chain. In 1995, the first store in Lusaka, Zambia, on Cairo Road was opened and acquired a centralised distribution company Sentra, which had been acting as a central buyer for 550 owner-managed supermarkets, allowing Shoprite to expand into franchising.
