THE Civil Society Organization Scaling Up Nutrition (CSO-SUN) has noted with concern that the on-going Coronavirus (Covid 19) responses have not integrated nutrition as component in comparison to standard interventions employed by other countries.
CSO-SUN National Coordinator Mathew Mhuru observed existence of a food supply warning that interventions ignoring inclusion and prioritisation of nutrition will not bear fruit as recuperation is not guaranteed once one falls prey to covid 19 infections.
Mr. Mhuru told Kwilanzi News Zambia in an interview in Lusaka that with a lot of people being thrown out of employment and a dysfunctional Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s) sector closing due to restrictions imposed due to outbreak of Covid 19, families are now opting to buying quantity food instead of those with a high nutrition level.

Mr. Mhuru is worried that lack of sufficient incomes at household level will affect consumption of healthy and nutritious foods.
