SOME Flood victims from Chawama’s Nkoloma Ward One have benefited from the Mealie Meal package from the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit D.M.M.U.
An elated Nkoloma Ward One Councilor, Ms. Tasila Lungu, led the distribution exercise explaining that being a flood-prone area it was difficult for some people relocated to safer areas to cope with hardships.
Ms. Lungu explains that before a long term solution is found, most people in Kuku and Misisi compounds endure the floods adding that coupled with prevailing COVID 19 this time around their livelihoods have been negatively impacted.
She is confident that the Mealie Meal will go along way in mitigating their food challenges.
The Civic Leader urged citizens to be proactive in adhering to Anti-Coronavirus measures recommended by health officials such as hand washing and the observation of Practice of Social Distance (PSD).
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries outlined various Challenges they are facing in the wake of the COVID 19 expressed gratitude for the gesture.
