Under19 Cricket National Team Up Beat for Division Two World Cup Qualifiers

Zambia Cricket Union (ZCU) president Rueben Chama says Zambians should have confidence in the newly built under 19 cricket national team competing for a 9th to 19th September 2016 Division Two World Cup qualifiers in the South Africa city of Benoni,reports Pan African Radio Journalist Ashton Kelly Bunda.
Speaking during a ‘Sendoff Ceremony’ at Lotus Cricket Sports Club in Lusaka, Chama implored Zambians to support the new team whose oldest player at 17-years-old as doing so will shape the future of local cricket in Zambia.
The Zambia Cricket Union President appealed to the boys to the team that consists of 14 players with 6 players from the Copperbelt to remain focused follow instructions from the technical bench and respect their team captain.
“Zambians and all cricket fans should have confidence in the young team whose oldest player is only 17- years-old. We have faith that this team is leading the next generations and shaping the future of Zambian cricket,” a proud Chama explained.
And the technical bench led by Coach Saidi Malama and assistant Cephas Bwalya declared the team ready to cope with expected formidable competition at the tournament and that his boys are jovial bubbling with confidence.
Meanwhile, Under19 Cricket National Team Captain Mohamed Sofya Ali has assured that his team will do their best and bring glory to Zambia as they compete in the Under 19 Cricket World Cup that will run from 9th to 19th September 2016 in Benoni, South Africa.
An enthusiastic Mohamed expressed confidence that the new generation of cricketers will uplift standards of crickets in Zambia, and regard the Division Two World Cup Qualifiers as a platform at which to show case their sporting talents.
Deputized by Gabriel Kaoma of Copperbelt Mufulira Cricket Club, Mohamed said that the strenuous result oriented training tutored by Coach Saidi Malama was intense and in-depth.
And Zambia Cricket Union Life Member Aaron Ghumra has urged the team to play as team and that the department of fielding should be not be underrated as catches from the fielders play an important role in gaining points as they dismiss opponents through wickets.
The Under 19-Cricket team travelling to South Africa today consists of 6 players from the Copperbelt and 8 players from Lusaka, namely; Mohamed Sofya Ali (Team Captain), Gabriel Kaoma (Vice-Captain) of Mufulira Cricket Club, Emmanuel Mutale Chansa (Ndola Cricket Club), Bwalya Mwila (Luanshya Royal Cricket Club), Michael Kunda (Mufulira Cricket Club), Bethan Kasopa(Mufulira Cricket Club), Mofya Mambwe from Mufulira Cricket Club, Mohammed Ghondiwala of Metropolitan Cricket Club, Talha Morshad, Jay Patel, Mohib Murshad ,Tiaann Petersen and Vansh Patel.
Ghumra is cheered with sponsorship by Unilever, who donated groceries worth K700, a parent Andre Petersen contributing running shoes worth K2, 700, Veran Services providing a cricket kit worth K10, 000 and International Drug Company Limited donating K1, 800.
