Webster Twaambo, Jr.Rising Professionals Summit-2018
Soon after releasing my second book titled ‘Press On’, I gave some copies to a good friend to sell. A few weeks later I called my friend for an update on book sales. Being convinced with the content and quality of the book I was expecting my friend to even request for more copies. To the contrary, he told me “people are asking ‘who is this Webster, who’s son is he?'”
This was a reality check, a brutal fact, that no one in my lineage had explored that path. I had to buckle up and that feedback sparked some inner energy to ‘create history and also live in it’. I know my son, Rhema, will have to fight different battles, not of creating a platform of writing books (award winning) nor public speaking.
Well, pioneers in different fields dont find platforms waiting for them, they create their platforms and sometimes they are not even the ones to enjoy the benefits yet their legacy lives on; transcending their mortality. This may mean working twice as harder as someone from a well known lineage who finds a platform waiting for them (don’t get me wrong, it is very good to find the platform created for you, schools fees waiting for you, a name you can ride on etc).

Pioneers are sometimes doubted, misundertood, despised and even ridiculed. Their resolve is tested but they believe in breaking the jinx, they never lose the faith that they will triumph at the end. They know they may lose some battles but their resolve is to win the war! And God has a way of making things happen, using the small things of this world to show His greatness, the foolish things to show His wisdom….
https://web.facebook.com/wtwaambojr/videos/354091312009561/ After the reality check above, and by God’s grace the Press On book sold over 2,000 copies within the first year of publication. The opportunities and doors that opened were beyond what I imagined.
To achieve, pioneers have something deep inside them, the faith that no matter what happens, no matter how difficult the present might be, in the end the they will prevail. This resonates with the Stockdale paradox by Jim Collins.
Pioneers understand their calling and despite the circumstances, which may be contradictory or harsh, they are resolved to press on to the very end. I don’t know how many can identify with the matters at hand.
