MACLINA Nkhoma, one of the two Nyamphande Orphanage Community School and Rural Health Centre recipient of a trophy and K2, 500 each under auspices of the Savenda Management Services (SMS) Best Girl Child Award has scored the highest Grade 7 mark in Rufunsa District.
Barely a month after being acknowledged by Bishop John Mambo as a recipient of maiden Savenda Management Services (SMS) Best Girl Child Award alongside Chipangano Musoni, single-orphaned Nkhoma scored 813 marks, out of the 38 peers at Nyamphande Orphanage and Community School.
An elated Bishop Mambo, who is Senior Headman Nyamphande, overseeing 10 villages in Chieftainess Mumpashya (Agnes Kazimilo), Bishop Mambo rejoiced that the support rendered through Savenda Management Services (SMS) Best Girl Child Awards initiative pledged in 2016 was bearing fruit.
“I am really pleased that following the Savenda Management Services for the Best Girl Child Awards initiative one of the two girls who received a trophy and K2, 500 each, Maclina Nkhoma scored the highest mark in the whole of Rufunsa District,” said a delighted Bishop Mambo.
Nyamphande Orphanage Community School and Rural Health Centre managed by Executive Director, Ms. Euralia Mwale is located exactly 120 kilometres east of the Lusaka’s Central Business District and takes one and a half hour drive.
Alluding to Zambia’s leadership, at presidential level, Bishop Mambo recollected that former First President, Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda, former Second President, the late Dr. Frederick Jacob Chiluba, former Third President, the late Dr. Levy Patrick Mwanawasa, former Fourth President, Mr. Rupiah Bwezaani Banda, former Fifth President, the late Michael Chilufya Sata and lately the incumbent, Sixth President, Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu all had humble backgrounds.
“As a Senior Headman in Nyamphande Chiefdom, I am sponsoring a couple of children, on account of a pledge we made as a team that we are going to bite the bullet by encouraging Zambians to educate needy children, instead of waiting for British or American support. One child, none other than Maclina Nkkhoma here is looking for sponsorship to go into boarding. This young girl has shown that increased support to children from humble backgrounds will transform Rufunsa District,” an appreciative Bishop Mambo said.
In an apparent reference to Savenda Management Services empowering the girl child, through increased incentives, Bishop Mambo enthused beyond measure: “I am overwhelmed by results at Nyamphande especially that of Maclina Nkhoma, one of the recipients of the Savenda Management Services trophy and K2, 5000 award. I believe that if we continue investing in children from needy families, Zambia’s future is secure as a lot of these rustic or rural areas, will groom and prepare these children for leadership. It is a known fact that, private schoold have not produced leaders”.
Adorning his other capacity as Chikondi Foundation President, Bishop Mambo said he is increasingly indebted to Savenda Management Services for supporting and ameliorating vulnerability through investing in children and young people.
“I am going to protect the business interests of Savenda as this firm deserves progressive support considering the corporate slur and mudslinging being poured on its management ream. It baffles me in this country, that those with more resources’ have penguin hands while institutions and individuals with little income, have a heart as large as watermelon and ready to give support,” observed Bishop Mambo, as he remained prayerful that sponsorship of boarding places for single orphaned children like Nkhoma will receive support, considering that a present only double orphans are receiving help.
At Grade Seven level Maclina Nkhoma scored 813, Josias Mbewe (759), Francis Phiri (748), Lydia Jere (740), Mellen Moondoma (735), Vincent Mwanza (724), Christine Chikwasha (723), Isaac Banda (720), Kefasi Mwale (718), Chatherine Phiri (716), Iwel Kunda (713), Dorcas Mwansa (713), Fenny zulu (711), Emmanuel Zimba (708), Kozaria Zimba (707), Faides Ngoma ( 707), Mwasile Mwaba (706), Simon zulu (706), Tionge Mvula (705), Tropa Moyo (705), Ireen Lungu (688), Steward Zimba (679), Charles Phiri ( 667), Brenda Phiri (657), Mesal Chilumba (654), Peter Mbufu (653), Gift Nyungu (649), Jespher Mwange (649), Davies Phiri (645), James Lungu (637), Juliet Phiri (623), Shadreck Njobvu (619), Samuel Mumba (618), Grace banda (617), Janet Banda ( 612), Jonathan Zulu (611), Rozimary Zimba (608) and Justin Chibanga scored 601 marks.
At Grade Nine level; with full certificates- Jackson Chibeka had 393 marks, Precious Chileshe (391), Isiah Phiri (374), Daniel Zulu (365), Racheal Matafwali (362), Aswel Mwale (359), Jackson Mvula (354), Dalitso K. Phiri( 354), elias silungwe (352), Jonathan J. Njobvu (352), Smart Tembo (346), Dagras Mainza (343), Emely Ngoma (339), Iness Lungu (339), Sydney Mango ( 333), Jonathan Kaluba (333), Samson Shaba (331), Chibesa Ngosa (323), Timothy P. Zulu (328), Emmanuel Kanjala (298) and muwama Mvula scoring 287.
The list of Grade Nine results concluded with Mercy Lupiya, Gibson Muchimba, Dennies Zulu, Lackson Lungu, Joe Makalachi, Melabo Moondoma, Charles Mumba, Ruth Phiri, Noah Mbewe, Esther Simwala, Dinga Zimba, Naomi Zimba, Isaac Mwanza and Jane M. Mwanza.
Rufunsa District Council Chairperson Bartholomew Kalabalama equally restated a resolve by President Edgar Chagwa Lungu to increase learning opportunities to all citizens.
“President Lungu is investing heavily in education. We must all create a better world by educating children, young people women and men,” bragged Kalambalama.
United Party for National Development UPND) Rufunsa Member of Parliament (MP) Sheal Mulyata equally commended Savenda and Rotary Club of Maluba for heeding a biblical counsel on embracing children.
“God will bless everyone that is investing in ensuring that children access education. Among all these children, they are doctors nurses, engineers and a Republican President,” Ms. Mulyata predicted urging Rotary Club of Maluba President Aditya Devalia and Rotary Club District 9210 Governor Ravi Devalia to provide a library to all needy schools.
Rufunsa District was declared by President Sata in 2012 and according to the 2001 Zambian Census, with a population of about 45.000 people in the 10 wards.
Ms. Mulyata implored General Education Minister Dennis Wanchinga and Higher Education Minister Professor Nkandu Luo to improve the learning and teaching environment in Rufunsa District.
“The Zambian Government must take keen interest in improving schools. The future of our children can only be sure through people being literate,” prodded Ms. Mulyata.
Rotary Club of Maluba President Aditya Devalia said sustainability of the empowerment initiative is key while, Rotary Club District 9210 Governor Ravi Devalia said Zambia Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe have 36, 000 members implementing holistic community interventions.
