Zambia Army Chief of Operations Brigadier General Benson Kamona rated 2015 as a sporting milestone year of achievements for the netball and football fraternity.
General Kamona Midlands Netball Association (MNA) annual awards ceremony hosted at Arakan Baracks in Lusaka that the netball national team that recently participated in the Diamond challenge in South Africa, Africa Cup in Botswana and the Netball World Cup in Australia resulting in some players clinching professional deals in Sri Lanka.
The Prestigious annual Midlands netball awards saw deserving hard working players , individuals and Clubs earning awards in different categories with the 2015 Australia world cup representative Lucy Jere from Green Eagles netball club wining player of year while Green buffaloes net ball club scopped the netball league champions and followed by Green Eagles as League runners up.
The Administrator of the Year was awarded to Jane Salimu, the hard working and woman from Chibolya, sacrificed resources to sponsor Tapeza Netball Academy, while coach of the year went to Catherine Banda the Green Buffaloes netball tutor.
The umpire of the year award was taken by Annie Mbewe for good referee or officiating of netball while best disciplined player of the year went Helle Sambulo of Nkwazi Netball club, Best Disciplined team was won by the Pensioners Napsa Stars Netball Club .
The hardworking netball team of Lusaka Tapeza netball team of Chibolya earned the most improved team of the year ,while the Up-coming Young Player of the year awarded to Justina Mwale from Chibolya’ s Tapeza netball club.
