Pioneer Influence Founder Kasote Singogo has backed government’s directive through Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa to all Permanent Secretaries (PS’s) to prioritize the purchase of Electric Vehicles (EV’s).
In a Wednesday 11th October, 2023 Press Statement to Pan African Radio 96.1FM, Mr. Singogo says Pioneer Influence as an institution that comments on Government Policy, notes that the use of Electric Vehicles by civic and public officials will help to reduce the cost of fuel.
This week, Secretary to the Cabinet, Mr. Kangwa said Cabinet Office will lead the campaign to procure Electric Vehicles as a means of reducing Zambia’s reliance on fuel and greenhouse emissions.
On Tuesday, 10th October, 2023 Mr. Kangwa directed all permanent secretaries and Heads of Procurement Units (HoPU’s) to prioritise the purchase of electric vehicles.
“Cabinet Office will lead the campaign to procure electric vehicles as a means of reducing Zambia’s dependence on fuel and contribute to reduction of greenhouse emissions. Government will start the acquisition of EV as a way of cutting the cost of fuel and reducing the use of fossil fuels, ” Kangwa spoke before taking a test drive in an Electric vehicle delivered by Southern Cross Motors Passenger Vehicle Sales Manager, Mushota Lwanga.
Earlier, Mr. Lwanga said Southern Cross Motors had started importing electric vehicles.
