Kapiri Mposhi Police arrest 22-year old woman for ‘killing her newly born baby’

Central Province Police Commissioner David Chileshe Mukuka confirmed the development in a statement, and identified the woman who has been charged with an offence of infanticide as Queen Mboroma of Ndeke compound in Kapiri Mposhi district.
“A report of infanticide was recorded on 28th May 2023 in which the incident occurred at around 14:00 hours in Ndeke ‘A’ Compound. Police received a report from female adult Astridah Mboroma aged 31 years of Ndeke A compound in Kapiri Mposhi district to the effect that her niece female Queen Mboroma aged 22 years of the same abode had allegedly murdered her baby boy just upon delivery,” Mukuka stated. “It is further alleged that the woman then hid the body under the mattress so as to conceal what she had done.”
Mukuka further explained that the woman has been detained in Police cells and charged with an offence of infanticide, while investigations have been instituted in the matter.
“Police visited the scene and inspected the body which had no physical injuries however the umbilical cord was found not cut. The infant’s body has been deposited in the Kapiri Mposhi district hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem. Investigations are still ongoing,” said Mukuka.
