Met to put up weather stations-Chinsali

Chinsali, April 14, 2023, ZANIS—The Department of Meteorology in Muchinga Province is set to install automated weather stations across the region.
Muchinga Province Assistant Meteorological Technician Helga Luhanga says the department has embarked on a project to install automated weather stations in a bid to have a wider scale of weather information in the region.
She told ZANIS in an interview in Chinsali today, that so far only Chinsali district has an operational automated weather station installed, adding that this will now be spread to the rest of the province.
Ms. Luhanga stated that the project also aims at increasing weather instruments, which are currently limited, adding that the installation of the automated weather stations will speed up recording of weather updates, in other areas.
“We further intend to install more weather instruments in our secondary schools and other towns in the province,” she said.
She noted that stakeholders such as the Transforming Landscapes for Resilience Development (TRALARD) will be on hand to facilitate the quick installation of the automated weather stations, especially in most rural districts.
The Meteorological Technician also said that the department will remain committed towards providing accurate weather information to the public through advanced instruments such as automated weather stations.
The Meteorological Technician further mentioned that the general public are thereby, able to appreciate weather information, through the various projects being implemented in the province.
