United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) President Charles Chanda’s Personal Viewpoint
I WAS doing my last year of secondary school at Kamwala Secondary School in 1987 when something happened that really made me miss my late dad.
I was then being kept by my late dad’s young brother and we lived in New Kamwala, Mtetezi road Kabwata Constituency. My late dad’s brother had just bought a Peugeot 504 and he treasured it so much.
We had no fence and l was told to be sleeping in the car to guard it. I had no choice but to obey and the challenge was that doors were locked with iron bars would have made it difficult for them to find me alive if thieves struck.
My other challenge was that since l was in my final year of high school, l needed night hours to study and do homework but this was practically impossible.
I humbly requested from my late dad’s brother to consider my studies and the action that followed was more stressful. He chased me from his house. I had nowhere to go and decided to go further from the school to live with my auntie.
This experience made me to realise how people are treated in life by others. My life was nothing just because my father was dead. Even if thieves killed me it mattered less. As l write my dad’s family is all late and the car l was guarding every night not to be traced.
#MORAL LESSON
We must learn to value every life and if God has blessed you never look down on those that are not as privileged as you are today because you don’t know their tomorrow. Have a blessed life beyond Sunday 21st November 2021.
