Kalomo District’s Senior Chief Chikanta condemns ‘UPND’ cadre jeering of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu

SENIOR Chief Chikanta of Kalomo District in the Southern Province has condemned the behavior of opposition political party cadres in Monze District, who jeered President Edgar Chagwa Lungu while on a Presidential Your of Duty.
In a Saturday 11th July, 2020 Media Statement, circulated by Ministry of National Guidance and Religious Affairs,
Senior Chief Chikanta’s reprimand followed the Presidential visit to the Southern Province where he had gone to commission 70 new housing units for the Zambia Correctional Service (ZCS), witnessed by Home Affairs Minister, Stephen Kampyongo, Party of National Unity (PNU) President Highvie Hamududu and ZCS Director General, Dr. Chisela Chileshe.
Speaking when National Guidance and Religious Affairs Minister Godfridah Nsenduluka-Sumaili paid a Courtesy Call on him at his Palace on Friday 10th July 2020, Senior Chief Chikanta advised all political players in Zambia to maintain peaceful cooexistence at all times.
The Traditional leader urged political players in the Southern Province to allow the Republican President carry out duties without any iota of dissonance and segregation.
Advised Senior Chief Chikanta: “The recent Southern Province Presidential visit to Livingstone, Monze and Mazabuka was a national duty and not an intra-political function. We urge all political players to keep maintain peace, as President Edgar Chagwa Lungu was on national duty and must be encouraged to visit all citizens regardless of geographical location”.
Senior Chief Chikanta is eager for a political environment allowing growth of a stable social economy tolerant of divergent views.
“As Chiefs, regardless of political affiliation and regional origin to conduct exchange visits to peer-Chiefdoms to learn from each other. Politicians must not only argue in Parliament but equally go on exchange visits to share ideas on how best they can serve their people,” a futuristic Chief Chikanta offered counsel.
